casting stainless

Hi All

Can Ya'll help me with some information on casting stainless start to finish?

I am wanting to cast some parts out of stainless. Pistons, Cylinders, and maybe the Crank and other parts for a motor that I want to build. I can hear ya"ll now What!!! Stainless pistons and cylinders. I know but Aluminum will not work because of the properties involved.

I have my work cut out for me because I am starting from scratch and on the cheep.

These are some of the things I need to know to get me started, keep in mind that I need to keep cost down as much as possible.

1.What temp. does stainless need to be to cast with?
2.Is there a furnace that can be home built, using LP gas to reach these temp's?
3.As far as the molds go what can be used for stainless, greensand, investment or other?
4.I have started making the patterns out of wood, But I am not sure this is the way for me to go as I don't have a lathe yet.
Is there anyone out there that can help me with pattern making
or point in the right direction to get the information I need.

Any information will be greatly après.

I'm not sure, but i was always under impression that if you get SS hot enough it looses its properties. Not sure to what degree or anything.
