Steel or Stainless

Simple question.
Which is better for making a pipe crucible,Stainless steel or steel?

I'd say steel as stainless just disappears

Thanks for the reply,Kipper.I bought 2 silicon/carbide crucibles but,I do not want to use them for making ingots because some of the aluminum is painted and would really make a mess of my crucibles.
