They will work. They are probably about 150 oz-in (guessing).

Hi Guys
At my local electronic junk shop, I came across a bunch of stepper motors and I was wondering if they would work and a guess at what the torque might be. This is the description:
Oriental Motor, type PH268l-01
6 wires
round case, about 3"
square end with flanges approx 3-3.5"
approx 4.5" long
specs:
E=5.4V
1.8 degree step
Iw=1.5 amp
Shaft at one end with a belt gear wheel.
They want $10 each for them, but if I bought 3-4 he would probably deal. I would probably use a Xylotex driver. The cnc I would build would have a cutting area of approx 2' by 3' and I am thinking of direct drive to a 1/2 inch 10 TPI acme rod.
Thanks for all you help
Phil

I wish it wouldn't crash.
They sound like they are the older "PH" series of Vexta steppers...........superceded by the "PK" series (eg PK268-01). I have four NOS PH268-21 steppers ready to go when I eventually get my machine built................I haven't been able to find much information on the PH series, but I'm pretty sure their specs vary slightly from the PK replacement.
Guys,
thanks for the answers. Very much appreciated.

In my research I came apon this site https://secure18.prohosting.com/~a00...rs-nema23.html. In it they say that my motor has 125 oz-in and yours 187 oz-in. What buffels me is that you spec the amp and volt the same as my motor but on the page yours should have I=1 and V=8.6.
I paid $15 per motor, way more then what you were asked to pay but they are supposed to be new. We'll see when they come.
They sound like Nema 34 size flanges.
