I need to get my lead screws and ways cleaned up and lubricated since this machine has been sitting for a long time. What type of oil do you use? Same stuff for the ways and oil cups? Lead screws? Greg |

| To cut thru caked on oil/grease, a more agressive oil such as WD40 or perhaps Dexron would do well. A 'way oil" such as Vactra is a good general purpose way lubricant. For a more interesting discussion about 'way oils", check out the thread that took place on the Tormach site here on the ZOne wherein a discussion of 4th axis lubes took place. There is a lot of good information sharted in the thread about good and bad uses of "way oil" in places wehre it should and should not be used. A good and entertaining read. |
