    1720xm upgrade help

Hey fellow chip makers. Thanks for the help with my shrline. Now I want to upgrade my 1720XM shoptask. All I need are the stepper motors. What should I get? Or what do they come with when you buy them with the CNC option. Thanks!!!

There's a lot more to it than just adding stepper motors! You also have to consider power supply, 3 servo's, mounts for the steppers, cogged belts, computer, monitor and finally software to name a few. Some things to think about plus lot of money or an empty credit card. LoL

I have everything but I just need the stepper motors and belts. I have the machine, the pulleys, the power supply, the drive, computer and monitor and software. I just wanted to know what they came with. I know they are a nema34 but what oness would be good for it. I am mostly using it to do mill work and some turning.

The Shoptask machines came with mounts for NEMA 34 motors, but you need to match the motors to the amperage of your drivers. A 3 amp driver would use a 400 OZ/IN motor range. A 7 amp like we have will run up to 1100 Oz/IN. Shoptask can probably supply you with the proper belts and pulleys or at least tell you what sizes you need.
