    Threading with the VFD

    So how does it work?

    vfd

    Yes, but I have never used it before. I just set up my machine last night and ran the mill but not the lathe in cnc mode. When I was running a mold file, I panned the mach 3 screen to watch the tool path run and my stepper motors skipped and zeroed out.
    Just wondering about the threading after watching the steppers work.

    With stepper systems you need to find the stall point for each axis in both rapid traverse mode and in cutting mode for various materials. This may take some time and trials, but once you know the limits, you can set your feed rates a bit below the stall point and feel pretty comfortable that you wont lose steps along the way.
