THREADING A SPINDLE FOR 1.5-8 THREADS
We introduced the Turnado lathe this year and response has been very good. Because it is a lathe only machine we have gotten a lot of input and questions about turning in general and threading in particular. Mach 3 is a great milling program and the turning portion is good for most all operations. However there are some tricks to make the threading easier. We have created a file and placed it on our website under the " Technical Bulletins" section. This attached video shows a threading project in which we took a "brand X' Chinese lathe spindle and turned it, then threaded it for a 1.5-8 backplate

I found that turning off the PID spindle control works well for threading. It doesn't matter what S true compared to the request RPM, it still threads OK. No need to use the VFD in manual mode. In fact I never use PID it doesn't seem to work very well in Mach3.
