thc300 Post Porcessor help

hello all,

I am a newbie trying to learn the code of the thc300 post processor. I have drawn a simple square and applied the thc300 post processor to it.

I have been having issues with certain settings under sheet cam. My issues are as follows:

1. How do I set the speed of the z movement when the torch plunges for stock. I have changed the the plunge rate though the "plasma cutter properties page" with no success

2. How do I set the rapid speed of the z axis when the torch is motion.

attached is the .tap file that was created by sheetcam

N0050 F1 (not sure what this does )
Not sure

N0060 S500 (not sure what this does )
This is speed for Z down

N0100 G00 Z0.0000 (i assume this is the plunge, How do I change the g00 for a specific feed rate)

The is your rapid reference, list under Option > Material l

If you are using Mach, you will need to change your motor rates there, Sheet Cam will only have a small efect if your rate percentage is small.

Also check your kerf width, no way is it .008

I would hguess you got this worked out by now but..
F###, in your case F1 is the feedrate when you use G1, G0 is a rapid movement so the feedrate doesnt actually affect that.
S500 is spindle speed.. so 500rpm, in your case this doesnt actually matter because its plasma.
My guess would be you didnt set the correct travel or safe height. What your machine is (or was) doing is sending the torch to the travel height (Z0.0000) and then moving rather than going to a nice height, say Z1.0000 seeing as your in inches, and THEN doing its travel.
Under job options you can set a rapid clearance.. you need to use this bigtime so that your torch doesnt try and move down to the material and then rapid to its next cut point dragging the tip all over the steel, and thats only if your lucky, steel isnt exactly a solid flat surface so you could be ramming the torch into the steel and it could be a bad situation.

Hopefully this helps, there is a G-code and M-code ref in mach3 that you should check out..
