http://sheetcam.com/downloads.shtml bottom of the page. I think they are working out some issues with the installer. It may have issues installing on dapper but people have had good luck with it on hardy and suse. you can read about it on the emc list here http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.....emc.user/7583 (I have not played with it yet) sam |

| Let's hope enough people buy to encourage continued development. I'll purchase the first non-beta for sure. Leslie Will TNG (great name btw ) include some basic tutorials soon? Also how do you prefer do be contacted about suspected errors/bugs? Maybe you prefer we save this kind of complaint for the next release? Not that I've found any of these so far, just starting to play with SheetCam now.

| cyclestart, Les is having problems with the autopackage installer and is looking for a different install package now. He says next update will be with the new system, whatever that is. TNG under windows is working as good as the original sheetcam so it looks very promising. As for the "official" way to post bug reports, there is a yahoo group that is the outlet.

| I do need to add some tutorials. It is a bit unfair to give you a complex program like SheetCam with so little documentation. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get something sorted out. Probably the best place for support is the Yahoo group . I do monitor this forum but as I rely on email notifications there can be a delay before I reply. I welcome any comments, bug reports and criticisms. I will try to get a new Linux release out next week. I will probably be offering both .deb and .rpm packages. I have pretty much given up on the installer idea. Les |

| Here's a few screenshots. The apps on the cube are sheetcam, qcad, emc2, and gedit showing the gcode. Now can someone please translate this to English? Code: chord_deviation sx=-8.128000 sy=24.003000 ex=0.000000 ey=15.875000 cx=0.000000 cy=24.003000 r=8.128000 th1=3.141593 th2=4.712389 included=1.570796 mid=3.926991 dev=2.380636 tol=0.000000 chord_deviation sx=0.000000 sy=15.875000 ex=0.000000 ey=15.875000 cx=0.000000 cy=0.000000 r=15.875000 th1=1.570796 th2=-4.712389 included=6.283185 mid=-1.570796 dev=31.750000 tol=0.000000 chord_deviation sx=0.000000 sy=15.875000 ex=8.128000 ey=24.003000 cx=0.000000 cy=24.003000 r=8.128000 th1=-1.570796 th2=-0.000000 included=1.570796 mid=-0.785398 dev=2.380636 tol=0.000000

| Re: chord_deviation This may be something new. The emc in this case is a very recent pre-2.3 build and the output is not happening on an older pre-2.3. Suppose the gurus will explain in due time.

If you mean a configuration problem with emc, that may well be. I compiled it from whatever was available through CVS at that moment. Maybe that particular build had issues or an error at my end. These messages are showing up in the terminal simply cutting a 1" square with cutter comp. SheetCam is working just fine and putting out good code. In any case this playing around time. I'll be using Dapper for real machine control for the foreseeable future. Might post to emc-users if curiosity becomes unbearable

| I know this is a very old thread but I just thought I'd detail my installation of SheetCam TNG for Linux, version 0.0.23 with that annoying package script. I couldn't get it to install at all at first. It kept giving me some weird GTK+ error. I was trying to install via a terminal shell inside X. What did I do? I logged in remotely from another computer via SSH and it installed perfectly. To double-check, I went back and logged in graphically via X windows to check and make sure I wasn't dreaming -- and there it was, and it runs. Thought I'd share. |
