| Viper, there's a company on eBay that is part of RENCO. They sell trays of 10 NIB RENCO encoders, and their reserve price is always $150. That's $15 per new encoder. I've bought two trays over the last 3 months and am now equipped for life with new encoders. eBay user name is motion805. They currently have three trays up on eBay. |

| You can build encoder almost for free by extracting quadrature encoder 'module' from HP inkjet printer. Here's my version inside an old stepper: http://www.students.tut.fi/~kontkant/tmp/enkooderi.jpg The disk is printed with laser on transparency. Resolution of this is 500 PPR. Unimited resolution can be achieved by increasing disc size. Testing encoder (I wish I had smaller dc motors...): http://www.students.tut.fi/~kontkant/tmp/servotest.jpg |
