Pac Sci servo info mooch

Anyone out there have the wiring for an S-series Pacific Scientific brushless servo with flying leads? This is a sweet servo but without the info, I can't do much with it.

It is an S22 motor with hall effect and a 1000 line LD quad encoder. I strongly suspect that PacSci is consistent with all of their brushless motors, so if you have an S3 motor or basically anything with hall effect and a quad. encoder, and can relate the wire colors to the functionality for the encoder and hall wiring, I'd HUGELY apreciate a PM or a post. Thanks guys! And if anyone needs help, I can provide wiring for older Cleveland servo encoders.

Swede, is that a recent motor? I have the Pac-Sci full line catalogue of motors and drives going back to before they were taken over, but the only S series in this is Synchronous steppers, there is R,F,E etc

Al, it's an older motor. I can't believe I didn't post the model # earlier: S22HSNA-HFNL

I can get pretty much everything EXCEPT the wiring from the old web site:
http://www.pacsci.com/

Here's the specific series:
http://www.pacsci.com/products/servo...esproduct.html

It looks like the encoder is of the commutation/encoding variety... otherwise, I'd probably replace it with a RENCO. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

It must be a model introduced by Danaher, but it says it is complementary to the R line and I have all the info on those. It does not show a model with un-connected flying leads, only flying leads with MS connector? If yours has a MS connector, what is the MS #?
BTW did you try getting anything out of Danaher support?

Al, it wasn't "Flying leads" until I took off the connectors! They weren't the original PacSci connectors, someone had created their own custom setup using DB9 serial connectors, thus I couldn't translate the pin # of the factory connector to a wire's functionality.

The encoder has an adjustment for radial positioning, and what I would guess are hall wires disappear into the base of this encoder, making me think that commutation and encoding are built into the same device.

I've really been striking out lately with my ebay purchases. The neat Omron servo from a while back turned out to require a mating Omron amplifier, as it has special commutation.

It looks like the part # breaks down to hall effect comm. with 1000 line differential encoder. with separate power and common to each function. The details I have mention that the Hall sensors are open collector transistor output with +12vdc supply and the encoder is quad differential c/w marker with +5vdc & common. It would be nice if you could reverse engineer/trace the different conductors by sight.
If they are all colour coded, maybe Danaher may offer some insight.

Thanks again, Al, you're always the first guy to help. I can probably figure out the encoder with a DVM and get lucky, I've done it before. The hall leads, I know I've got H1, H2, and H3 isolated, I bet I can figure out which is which as well.

There is a simple way to match up a particular hall output with its matching phase output, you need access to a double beam 'scope.
