I have a DMS CNC Router. The "x" axis quit today. I opened the control panel and the Digital PWM closed loop drive amplifier for the "X" axis has a "U" in the LED read out and all the other amplifiers have a "C" in the read out. Does the X amp. need an adjustment or does it need to be replaced? If it needs to be replaced, can the old one be rebuilt for a backup? This is the 3rd amp. to be replaced in two years. The first two were replaced by DMS under warranty. Now Warranty has run out along with their service. Need help fast, we are behind in production. The drive amp. is a Glentek SMA9615-006-1 Last edited by carving123; 06-29-2009 at 10:22 PM. Reason: spelling |

| A quick question.... were all the amp failures on the same axis? If so, then there may be an intermitant problem with the motor or wiring on that axis. If the failed amps were on different axis, then I would start looking at the power supply (if it's one supply common to all axis). At $675 for a replacement, you would think they would last longer than that. Is the amp that failed one that had been previously replaced? Perhaps under warranty on its own. Still, 3 amp failures in 2 years.... There has to be a reason.... Getting too hot? Steve |
