My pleasure. I'm very interested to know how you get along. I've got a stack of those amps gathering dust, and no inexpensive way to send analog commands, but many options for sending step and direction. I hope you post your progress here, and I'll see it.

Teknic STT-1500 ACX

Hello
I am new (again) to this forum, I was looking for help on the Teknic drives I find that I am not alone, I pulled my hair for a week until I got them to work, I don't particularly like drives that need to get tuned through serial port and software, (permanently Psychologically damaged by Rutex drives).

I would like to let you know that they are Step and DIR and that they work very well with Mach3. (You don't need to use them with analog converter).

I would like to offer help to anyone who wants to try them out.

Arturo

How do I post any videos?

Sure Mike, just let me know how to post videos on this forum. Or I could post it on Youtube and then pass the link on to you.

You are absolutely right about those amps taking step and direction, Arturo. I had to call and ask, so convinced I was that my memory was good. My Bad, Starcat, I done steered you wrong, sorry. THAT's how thick the dust is on those amps. I've attached the old specs for that amp.

My contact at Teknic says you should use Quickset 4 instead of 6 to talk to them; don't understand why.

I still don't know enough to advise you on the clunk and fail, starcat. Sorry.

Actually, starcat, it may be commutation. When you power up and disable the motor and rotate it's shaft manually, do all the hall effect sensors change state on the motor setup page?

Teknic STT-1500 ACX

The software is Quickset 4.2.48
I had to make the serial port cable, the connection on the drive is numbered but not marked, I couldn't find any numbers on the drive nor on the manual. I had to guess which was the number 1. The numbers ascend towards the end of the drive. Number one is the pin closest to the middle of the drive though the connector is towards the end of the drive.
Connect (pin 8 Enable) and (5 neg) to turn on the drive.

My drives didn't have any connectors, fortunately I found out that the plugs on old computer power supplies fit perfect.

The one thing that had me stuck for a long time was the encoder count, Thanks to a very nice man at Teknic I learn that the drive wants to know the encoder count other wise it won't run!! I had a motor connected to one drive with an 8000ppr encoder and the software setup was set for 4,000ppr the motor wouldn't move over 15 degrees on either direction.

SST-1500-RCX

I have a Camtech L20 laser engraver. Im running 2 SST-1500-RCX drives and 3 Teknic M-3482-FT servos. Im trying to calibrate everything using quickset. I cant get anything online. I set the com port to the right one. According to Teknic, I dont need an oscope with the RCX drives. Could that be the problem?

I can get my drive online, oscope or not. Did you solve your problem?
