Milling machine conversion help

I wish to convert a manual turret mill (next size up from a series 1 bridgeport) to 3 axis cnc control. Mechanical parts no problem. From reading on the web Mach3 seems to be the software to go for but I'm not to sure about the electronics. What drives, servo motors (not steppers), etc are the best quality/value for money that will all work happily together? Are there any uk companies that can supply a good quality package of drives, servos, etc. Basically I have a mill and a pc and I'd like to know what I need in between. I don't want the cheapest because the machine will be used for commercial work but not continuously 24hrs a day.

Hi,

I know very little about servo systems but here's a good UK supplier I use for stepper motor systems. http://www.motioncontrolproducts.co.uk/ They can fix you up with servos, I have no idea how cost competitive they are but I am happy with their prices for what I use.

Hi there,

Not sure about UK, but within the EU you have Granite devices - www.granitedevices.fi who I feel are the best value for supply of both brushless servos and drives (I am affiliated - my company is a distributor).
