Spindle Motor Help

I'm rebuilding a Dyna 2100 cnc mill. I managed to get Dyna to send me the spec drawing on the motor. The manufacturer is listed as Electro-Craft Servo Products. Part number is 0661-07-002. It says the max terminal voltage is 120v. It doesn't saying anything about any other voltage. The Dyna manual says it's an 80v motor. Does anyone know if I can use a KB Electronics KBWS-25D or a KBMG-212D to control this thing? It seemed to run OK with the previous controller but I want to replace the controller. Any help? Suggestions? I will try to upload the spec drawing.

I take it you do not want it for servo control? as these are SCR 4 quadrant drives, probabally ok for general speed control, for servo application you would be better off looking at Applied Motion or Copley Controls drive.
I see now you want it as a spindle drive, it should operate with the KB on 120vac input.

Al, thanks for the reply. I may look at replacing the motor as well. I see all kinds of information on 90 volt SCR motor controllers but nothing about sources for the motors themselves. I assume we're talking about a standard 90 volt, PMDC motor. Is this basically a servo motor without the encoder? No, I'm not looking to use it as a servo, just a spindle motor. But searching for 90 volt PMDC motors doesn't find much. The motor I have seems to be basically a servo motor without an encoder. Would that be correct? It just has the two armature leads. It appears to be some quasi NEMA 34 standard. It's round, 3.115" in diameter, and 4.6" long (seems short).

BTW, I went ahead and purchased the KBMG-212D KB Electronics drive.

I have used large DC servo motors as a spindle motor, the advantage is that DC servo's often have a DC tach, the KB and Baldor drives usually have an input for this, this will give superior speed control.
Why are you looking at replacing the motor? it should run OK with the KB drives off 120vac supply.
I am experimenting now with converting Fanuc AC servo motors to BLDC to use as a spindle on a small lathe, the BLDC generally have a higher rpm rating than DC brushed.

I don't yet know that I'm going to replace it. Just thought I might get a newer, more powerful motor at some point. But have to find something that fits. I believe that the KBMG-212D does indeed have a tach input. If that's the case then I would want a servo motor? Is a servo motor nothing more than a PMDC motor with an encoder?
