Yaskawa big drive small motor

Is there a Yaskawa motor compatibility chart or at least a guideline?

To what extent (if any) can Sigma I motors be used with Sigma II drives, or the other way around?

Can I use a large drive and configure it for a smaller current so that I can drive a smaller motor?

I don't think You'll be able to swap the two as SigmaII use different (serial) encoders to SigmaI (quad signals and ref.).

I also figured that running different series would not be possible.

How about using a big driver to drive a smaller motor from the same series? Are there any configuration settings that would allow for this?

I have yaskawa motors, I also have the relevant servopak. I found yaskawa PDF's online that covered, motors servodrives and combined pdf's that covered drives and motors. I just searched google. When I wanted to show the spindle motor pdf to an inverter place I couldn't find it online, but I had saved it when I found it before. Failing that ask Yaskawa, they comprehensivly answered my questions about the spindle inverter within a day or so.

Yeah, Yaskawa does have excellent free tech support. Give them a call - I'm sure they can help!
