Help with parameters on EG&G servomotors

    Hi.

I have found four motors from EG&G with PMI encoders.
I have searched all over the net for som information of this motors. I cannot find anything.
Then I wonder if you might help with any information about it. The serial number of the motors is really hard to read but the encoders says:

    Model: 00M2300040 5H
    Type: M230180L4EC541/2S

    Model: 00M2300040 5J
    Type: M230180L4EC541/2S (Two of these)

    Model: 00M2301739 9H
    Type: M230180ABI12AC5000S

    /Thanx, Björn

These are motors also made for or by? CMC Cleveland Machine Controls although I don't have any info on 2300 series, but they look identical to the 2600 series, I have information on the 2100, 2600 and 3500 series and the series can often be determined by the diameter and the torque by measuring the length. These appear to the type without tach, but you do not need a tach if you operate them in the torque mode with encoder feedback to the control. If you let me know the dimensions I could see how close they are to the info I have.

Here is the link, you may be able to pick out the motor closest to yours, they look like 3500 maybe, if you click on the 3500 motors it should give you a PDF to download info to compare physical size which should at least give you a ball-park rating.

I will see what I have on the encoders, How amny wires to the the encoder?

I do not have the pin out for these encoders, you may have to extract it the hard way, it is almost certain red is + and black is common, I would hook this up to 5vdc supply and rotate the shaft and check the output on the other wires, you may have an A & B channel with the respective complements on the the other two channels, if you have access to a double beam 'scope that would help. It does not look like you have a marker pulse (1pulse/revolution). unscrew the cover and see if you can see any IC numbers as this could tell you if it is line driver or open collector output.

Would these motors run with the Servodrive from Gecko?
    http://www.geckodrive.com/item.htbml...0&item_id=G320
I understand that the encoders must be atleast 200ppr, could it be a working solution for a medium size X/Y table?

Im a friend of the threadstarter and he has offerd me the motors and Im not at all in terms with servomotors sins i have planed to use steppers, but the servomotors is an interesting idea!
