Hello, This is a simple question. Where can I find servo motor that I can salvage? I just want to make some tests before spending several hundred bucks in motors. If someone know where to find cheap servo motors, please let me know. The easiest way would be an old car servo motor (if they use any) or a laser printer maybe? Anyway, if someone know, please let me know. Thank you |

| Your best bet is ebay, or Kijiji if you live in a large city. You need to decide what technology, DC brushed, DCBL or AC sinusoidal, this will determine the type of drive you will need. Al.

| Ok, I found some on ebay that seems interesting. Now, a question about encoder and controller. Lots of controller I saw out there require enc+, enc-, phase A and phase B for the encoder. What if my encoder have 15 pins? Do I need to connect only those 4 wires? Or it means that this controller won't work for me? Thanks |

| Not enough info, I'm afraid. Need to know the type of motor and controller? Some drives are semi-intelligent, i.e. they have processing capability, the encoder usually goes back to the drive. The encoder goes back to the CNC controller in non-intelligent drives and also if BLDC or AC motor, there has to be commutation back to the drive. If you have an encoder with 15 pins, then it most likely has commutation tracks. Al.
