Hi all. While attempting to test a LS173 Logosol drive I see that the connector for the encoder has A,B,Z, +5 and GND. From my junk I have found some encoders but they all lack Z. I haven't used those encoders yet, I thought I'd better ask before. Will the LS173 work if it lacks Z from encoder? What encoder could I use for those drives, assuming its a 250cpr. Konstantin. |

| It should be OK, it is just that you will lose a home to marker feature, if it is differential encoder input, tie inputs Z high and /Z low. Al.

| Al thanks for the quick reply. I am a bit confused about what to tie up. Here is the "Encoder and Commutator" pinout of the drive I have: 1 GND 2 ENCODER Z 3 ENCODER A 4 +5V 5 ENCODER B 6 +5V 7 COMMUTATOR S1 8 COMMUTATOR S2 9 COMMUTATOR S3 10 GND Konstantin. |

| You may not need to pull the single ended Z up if it is not used. Everything else needs connecting. Check continuity to see if 4 & 6 are connected, and the GND (commons) are connected internally if so you could just input one supply for both, if separate you could still use a common 5v supply Al.
