I have an old machine here with a Simodrive 610 and it faults shortly after it is enabled. I don't even have to move an axis and it will fault. Three LEDs light up. On the G0 board, the green V4 and the red V1 light up as well as V2 for the Y axis on the N1 board (3 axis board, X, Y, Z). Also, on the machine display, it will sometimes give an excess following error on whatever axis I am trying to move. I can move every axis before it faults, so I'm sure its not the motors or cables. I swapped cables just to make sure also. Its always the same three LEDs that light up. I'm not sure if it is the N1 or G0 that is causing this fault. My assumption would be the N1 since that has the speed controlling circuits. Anyone more familiar with these than I that can offer some insight? Part numbers for this drive G0 - 6SC6100-0GB12 N1 - 6SC6100-0SA21 A1 - 6SC6108-0SN00 |

V4 means enable is missing. That`s to be expected because V1 is on and the drive will not be putting out a ready signal to the control which waits for that before putting out the enable to the drive. V2 can be a couple of things but usually excess current/too long a ramp. There are other reasons,V1 could be the + - 15v supply is faulty but in this case I don`t think so. Have you got an email address and I`ll send you a pdf.

I have to maintain a paul cnc saw,in a small mill in Oakland CA.I have no tech info.Spoke with tech assist, and went through the Simodrive #610,test with their box, with 9 volt batt. All enable pins jumpered, orig lines ,removed.Motor gets no signal. They asked me to test the +/_15 volt&+/_24 volt lines on "GO"board.15volt lines were fine.+/-24V,were +19.1V&-24,was -19.2V.Paul says GO board supply is problem.$3200,will cure it! Since it was 30 degrees, after being in 70s for last months,I am guessing the days of cold weather, may be pointing to one or more aluminum electrolytic caps, being defective, and I was wondering if anyone out here, has had similar problems, and "Gridley 51",mentioned to someone availability,of a PDF file for this unit?If so how much?Would really appreciate any help, here as it might really help my job security! No leds light up,on GO board, either roberto1759

Roberto, the pdf is just setup advice and you seem to have covered it with the battery box tests. The GO board does seem to be the problem as you have no leds lit at any time. The GO board draws the power from the dc buss,so,if the voltage on that is ok then I would assume the GO board. I have seen on lots of faults on drives and cnc controls over the years that electrolytic cap failure is about 90% of the problems. The 610 and it`s earlier dc cousins the 6RA and 6RB do not like dampness or condensation. If we go to start up a machine on a cold morning which has one of these drives we stick a blow heater in the panel for twenty minutes before powering up.Makes a major difference. I would estimate that the number one repairer of drives in the UK would repair that with twelve months warranty for under $1600 including shipping. I think they are slightly less than $3000 from Siemens. I`ve sent you a PM. Mark.

Dear Sir, i have recently bought a used heller BEA2 HMC, 1991 make, with simodrive 610. After machine on, G0 shows V4(green), v1 & v2 (red) indications. After motor on push button, drive fans start for a few seconds, and only green led glows. After about 8-10 seconds everything stops, with a alarm for "drive faulty", and indicators v4, v2,v1 glowing on G0. Kindly help. Also, kindly let me know where i can download the manuals. Thanking You. -Satish Rao, Kolhapur, India.
