Been looking for encoders now, and saw the current Renco's on ebay, but I can't seem to find the answer for this one. Aside from the pulse count, there is a trailing number, which seems to be for multi-pole encoders. Ie, RCML15-512/0 RCML15-500/2 ... What I can't find is what that means (for me). Am I right in thinking that the /2 /3 are for multipole motors, and that I want the /0 encoders for single pole motors? |

| The trailing number is for the pole count for the commutation pulses. e.g. 500/4 would be a 500 pulse/rev encoder with commutation for 8 pole motor (4 pole pairs). The commutation is only used on BLDC motors, if the commutation pulses are not needed as in a Brushed motor, you just use the A,B,Z, outputs. Al.
