Hi guys, I am a newbie and have tons of questions regarding servo motors since I have recently acquired a couple of DC servo motors from Shinano Kenshi. They came with all the cables chopped off. I guess I have to get an appropriate drive for the motor and try to re-establish the cable connection. The spec of the motor is shown in this link: http://www.shinano.com/xampp/docs/Se...ies%20LA52.pdf Any input and advice is greatly appreciated. What kind of drive available for these motors? What else do I need to get them work again? Thanks in advance Khan |

| They appear to be DCBL, DC brushless motors, there are many drives to pick from with analogue control A-M-C, Copley etc, if you intend using step/direction control, then there are fewer drives to pick from. If the drive does not include a power supply then this would also be required, for multi drive system, usually a single DC supply is used. Al.

| Thanks Al, Already good info you provided. I looked thru AMC web site. Looks like there are many different drives , analog and digital. What to choose? I would need some specific recommendations since I have no idea on how to go about it. I would figure a drive that matches the required voltage and amp for the motors. These drives have to be somehow connected to a PC for programming? I intend to control direction of the motors as well as the rpm, so would that be done with a basic drive or something fancy? I apologize for being so clueless. |

| First you have to decide what type of control you intend to use, this will decide the drive signal requirements. Al.
