I have just begun the quest of trying to decide what servo motors I should use and need help sorting through the reams of information out there. So if I could have help getting pointed in the right direction I would appreciate it. -By what criteria should I judge a motor by. -What makes a motor more expensive, more accurate, more repeatable. -What servos are you guys using and how satisfied are you. About the only thing I know right now is that I want to use Mach3 for control software, everything else is still in the design phase. Thanks for your input |

| As far as quality vs price, I think you'll find that servos made in China will be cheaper than anything else, and the quality will probably be lower in most cases. The proper way to choose servos, is to have all the information about your machine, including weights of components, and you're desired performance (velocity and acceleration) and download some manufacturers software that will tell you what you need based on the data you provide. Any other way is just a guess.

| Thanks ger21, I am fairly confident about sizing a servo motor. maybe a better phrased question would be, -Is there a particular brand that is considered high quality, middle of the road, and inexpensive. -Should I be looking at resolvers or encoders. Thanks again |

| Not sure about what brands are better. Probably depends on the drives your using.
