Question Matsu****a (Matsushi'ta) servo motor from a Cannon copier

Hi every body,
this is my first post&Thread on the forum.

i found a dc brushed motor from an old cannon copier it has a strange three wire encoder that's made of PCB & metallic disc spinning on the pcb surface.

The motor is a (Matsushi'ta) Matsu****a GMX-7MP008A it's a 20v brushed DC motor.

my questions are : how to know the resolution of the encoder ? is it possible to use it with the uhu servo controller ?

Buy me a Beer?

With three wires I would say it is more likely a form of digital Tach, inductive pick up, maybe?

Thanks a lot man for your fast reply !

I'm trying to find where to salvage servos or encoders for cheap, so i'm exploring old copiers and any thing that seems to use servos, next time i'll try to explore old or refurbished printers.

i got a brand new hp psc1510 and i saw inside what looks like encoders, one on a the mainboard (encodes a gear wheel) & another on the print head that's a linear one i think. but the machine is brend new so if i find a refurbished one i'll go further.

If you can point me on a better source i'll be really glad.

Thanks a lot for your help.
Best regards

You might look at places that scrap out old computer gear. Some of the older wide carrige line printers had nice servo motors with optical encoders attached. Look for an old decwriter, lift the top cover and look on the right side of the carrige.

Thanks a lot man for your reply !

About the encoders you're talking about, are they compatible with the uhu servo controller ? are they quadratur encoders ? how many wires they have ? what are you using them for ?

You said optical encoders, do you mean the ones that have a perforated black plastic disc (one channel incremental spinning between two diodes packed in a U shaped black plastic with just two face to face holes to orient the diod light and a three pin connector) ? what is the resolution (is it possible to increase it) ?

if it's what i need i'll be chasing old printers now, thanks a lot for the new idea ! & excuse the amout of questions it brouth !

Thanks for all the helpers that make this forum alive.
