Hello, I have a 17.5V Lincoln laser Co. DC Brushless motor, 4 poles, with differential halls and BEI encoder. This motor rotates 8 small mirrors to make a line with a laser.( I want to make it work for David laser scanner tests)
Can someone tell me if I can use only the encoder for feedback or how to make it just spin.
Regards,
Jorge

Not sure what you are looking to do, but if you just want to rotate the motor, you could use a A-M-C drive as a variable speed drive using a pot.
You will however need the commutation feedback, but do not need an encoder.
BTW if you were to hook up an identical motor, the 3 stator lead to each other, turning one shaft will rotate the other in the same degree (providing no great load is on the motor). servo action.
