A resistance question (Most likely for Al)

What kind of resistance should I have in an encoder cable? More specifically A high end industrial cable with amp connectors, I'm having problems with a shakey axis on a bridgeport ez path that may be caused by the velocity loop.

Ez Path II aka Ol' shakey

If you mean the resistance of the individual conductors, then it should be very low for the probable length that you are dealing with, but depends on the gauge. I would expect each conductor to be less than 1ohm for the average encoder cable with insulation resistance in the megohms between conductors.

Thanks Al, I've got .6 ohms so i guess I can rule that one out, while were here you dont happen to have any revelations about my problem in the other thread by chance?

Not sure of the drives you have but it sounds like a gain setting or a component has changed over time, this was symptomatic of the Westamp drives, the 20 turn pots would go flakey on them, I usually the drives with AMC products.
