    G.E. ValuTrol Spindle Drive Question

    Hi,
    I have a H.E.S. U100 lathe, I am retrofitting with emc2, the original control is a G.E. series 5.
I am using a Mesa 5i20 plus 7i33 for amp interface and 7i37 for i/o.
The servo amps are Gettys and proved to be quite simple to connect to as the channels are all identified.
The motors have tachs connected directly to the amp, the encoders run from the end of the ballscrew.
Having the basic tuning done to get stable motion, I thought I would go on to the spindle drive, but it does not have the same helpful info and I have no documentation for the machine or control.
My question is, does anyone have information on this drive G.E. 6V30F3311
to help identify the input channels which are numbered from 1 to 30 at the terminal.

    Dave.

I just finished a Centroid T400 retrofit on an H.E.S. 24NCSD, with a GE ValuTrol 6V30F3264 for the spindle drive.

That drive, like yours, had about 30 terminals across the bottom (2TB). I identified the following functions:
    • Terminals 1 and 2 (jumped together), close to terminal 14 to run.
    • Terminals 27 and 28 receive analog input +/- 0-10VDC to control both spindle speed and direction (reverse analog polarity to reverse spindle direction).
    • Terminals 5 and 6 are a normally-open output that closes when the spindle is running.
    • Terminals 3 and 4 are a normally-closed output that opens on a drive fault condition.
    • Terminals 17 and 18 are a normally-closed output that opens when the spindle is running (inverse of terminals 5-6).
    • The old control had provision for closing terminal 12 to terminals 8 and 9 (jumped together) under some circumstances, but I have not yet determined the function. It is probably either a drive fault reset or an external fault (stop/inhbit).

The tachometer feedback from the spindle motor connects to terminals 29 and 30. Terminals 8 and 22 are an analog output to drive a load meter (amp meter).

    Hi ,
I have Mazak Lathe with VALUTROL DC SERVO DRIVE 6V30F3389.
The Servo Drive always trip overload alarm if the machine start and stop at high RPM >700 RPM.
The actual rpm on the screen not same with set point.
Please any one help me to sollve this problem.
I think I must set the Acc and Decc but I do not have the Manual for this drive.
