    Electracraft BRU200 servo

I am trying to connect to a BRU200 servo drive to set it up.
The manual says to use a tandy computer.
I have tried using Dos and Telix, the help screen comes up but I cant get into the setup page.
Has anyone done this, any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Gary
I cant help I am aftraid but hopefully you can help me
I did a quick google and it looks like your drive is very similar to the ones I have just got. Mine are Osai OSS200 and also badged Alen Bradley OSS200.
Do you have the manual as a PDF that you could send? any info would be appreciated.

No problem , was just on the off chance you had it in pdf.
Would appreciate if you look at the pic and tell me if its similar, it will help me with my search for a manual.

Hi Ginn, thanks for the reply, the one in the pic is a 15/30 amp and I dont have it yet but I think physically it is the same size as the other three I have which are 10/20Amp versions. Does your drive have a cutout on the side where the eprom is? Does yours have the same type of terminals at the right hand side or does it have D type sockets?

    Thanks

Do a search for Giddings Centurion, they have software for their drive (DSM Pro) I am not sure if its the same drive as yours but I dont think it will do any harm if you try and look at your drive through their software. Mine is an older version of that drive but I have not connected it yet as I dont know what connections to make as I have no manual

I'm pretty sure you can find the AB manual for that drive. I have the electrocraft manual on pdf, but I don't know how I would possibly get that to you since it's so large. Plus the computer it's on is not on the network right now anyway.

You used to be able to download the manual from Giddings and the Electrocraft section of AB, but I haven't been able to find the electrocraft manuals recently. I have similar drives from AB, Electrocraft, and Giddings. Gotta sell them on Ebay since I don't need them.

I have never figured out how to get into the setup screen. I doubt that my Tandy 100 still works, haven't tried it in years. I always figured that using hyperterminal with the proper screen settings would work ok. It's just an ascii terminal program. I thought DSM Pro was for the drives that replaced these.

Thanks for the reply. I have searched Rockwell site over and over, even found a direct link to the manual from an old post but its now dead. Seems they have removed it from their site because it is so old. Tried Giddings site, Electrocraft site, PLC Centre site, Osai site and many more but all turned up blank.
Last night I managed to get the motor running from the drive and obviously I would like the full manual and hopefully I will manage to find it eventually. What I really need info on at the moment is the pin out for connecting to the serial port on the computer. I would really appreciate if you could look in your manual and get that info for me.

hopefully I have the relevant pages printed out, because after I posted last night I tried to get on the computer the manual is on, and it doesn't boot. I'll go look for the printouts.

    The pinout is as follows:
    7 -- +5v DC
    6 -- Shield
    5 -- RCV-
    4 -- RCV+ (rs422 only)
    3 -- Common
    2 -- XMT + (RS-422 only)
    1 -- XMT-

For RS-232 applications P11 should be connected from 2-3 P12 connected from 2-3 and P13 connected from 1-2
This is from the Electrocraft manual
I'll see if I can find the application examples later

Excellent, really appreciate you posting this info. Not quite sure what the P11, P12 and P13 are as I dont have a drive here but think they could well be jumpers on the board, will look tomorrow when I get back to the workshop. Once again thanks.
