I need some help identifing a encoder that is used on a cnc lathe. The encoder is a anilam model no L25G-750-ABZ-7406R-LED-SPT02-S. Here is a photo of the encoder http://www.cnczone.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/3817 . Looking at the wiring diagram that was supplied with the lathe it looks to be standard optical encoder (manufactured on 2/2/89). Would it be safe to hook this up to a gecko to see if it will work? Does anyone have any ideas on how to safely test this just so I do not wreak a gecko? Thank you for you help Jeremy |

| From the part number it would seem that it has a ABZ pulse single ended open collector TTL output (7406) , possibly 750p/rev. If you have the pin out then it should hook up OK, you may need the pull up resistors, check the Gecko sheet. If you don't have the hook up, take the cover off and it can usually be detected easily. | Thanks for the help al. By chance I do have the wiring for this encoder so it will not be hard to wire to the gecko. I looked thru the g320 manual and I could not find any info on the pull-up resistors. I did a search on the boards and did not come up with much either. If you have time could you elaborate on pull up resistors. |

| They do have pull up resistors, this is from the 320 manual. The manual also states you can only draw 50mA from pins 6 to 7 or you have to use another 5v supply and load pins 6 to 7 with a 470 ohm resistor. I would check the current draw of your encoder before powering it from the Gecko. Darek |
