Hello all : I was lucky to find a Shibaura 2 axis robot at the Portland GEARS show. It needed some small repairs but for $35 I don't *****. Its in great shape. I have pulled the DC servos out of it and I was wondering if I could use them for a spindle motor for my Taig CNC mill. If not I will put them back in and use Gecko drives and make a small CNC router with the 2 axis of the robot. The label has Rated out put 80 W, Rated speed 4000 rpm, Rated torque 2KG/CM. Can anyone tell me about this motor ? Can it run on 36 VDC ? ( I put 12vdc to it , lots of torque ) Is the 2 KG/CM enough torque for the mill ? I got the controler box with it ( no hook up data, lots of wires ) So I could use info on it also. Thanks Mitch .................. |

| For servo's, at 4000rpm you can afford to gear down quite a bit, this will increase torque and increase the motor to load inertia by the square of the reduction. Al.
