Need Specs for Renco Encoders on Electro-Craft E712's

Does anybody have a wiring diagram / specs for the Renco encoders that Electro-Craft used on the E712 servo motors? I am almost ready to wire them on my Boss/Gecko retrofit.

Buy me a Beer?

The info on the Renco site is the same as the ElectroCraft encoder option sheet.

Hi, I hate to ressurect an old thread but I've just aquired one of these motors; the encoder appears to have about 10 wires.
The link Al_The_Man gave above is dead; presumably Renco have reorganised their site.

Thanks, Jim

EDIT: Oops, sorry. My E712 has only 4 wires to its encoder - should be standard.
Its the E440 I have thats got 10 wires. Im still stumped by that one, no Google hits for data; only that at 24VDC no load current is 0.330 Amp and
RPM is 1365.
Does anyone else have one of these or data on one?

I think you must have gone to the Renco Electronics site?
this is the Renco Enc http://www.renco.com/
Unfortunately since Renco were taken over by Heidenhain, much of their current inventory is now limited, all the previous models are now legacy encoders and the details appear to have been removed.
Is it 6 wire total or 6 wire plus the 2 for power?
Renco's colour code was pretty much standard.
Al.

My E-440 Renco 10-wire pinout....

OK, I went out and pulled out one of my E-440's. Mine have a ten conductor gray ribbon cable. Once strand is red, which I assume is pin "1". As mentioned, there isn't much info on the web.

Like Al mentioned Renco was absorbed by Heidenhain. I sent an email off to Heidenhain and got a response the next day. Here is a copy of the email:

"Dear Mr. Norris,

The RENCO P/N 75900-012 is the EB-1024-1/4-R8-5-C and the 9135 indicates the encoder was made in the 35th week of 1991.

This encoder was discontinued in 1993.

I have attached the data sheets for the E series encoder and the installation instructions. This encoder is 19 years old.

If you need a replacement for this encoder, please let me know and I will quote you the R35i encoder that can replace this encoder.

If you have any questions on this email, please contact me.

Thanks for your inquiry on encoders made by RENCO Encoders, now merged with our parent company Heidenhain Corporation.

Best Regards,

Edward R. Burk

Fax: 805-562-1150
Email: eburk@heidenhain.com"

I have attached the twp pdf's he sent me. Chart three in the "E-Series 1992" pdf gives the pin out. Although there are ten conductors, not all are used.

Hopefully this information is helpful. As for the 6-conductor E-712 Renco, if you can't find the information anywhere else, I wouldn't feel shy about contacting Heidenhain or Mr. Burk. If you do, please post the results, I may one day use my E-712s too:-)

Cheers,

Lance
