step and direction control for opto22 servo drive

Hi Folks,
i have been using stepper systems for a while...
I recently recieved some surplus linear slides driven with servos...

the drives require opto 22 digital input (+/-24v)

are there any products that can convert step and direction (so i can use Mach 3) to opto22...

If all else fails it looks like i can drive them in analogue mode with
http://www.skyko.com/products/

thanks in advance
andrew

Buy me a Beer?

What is the Opto22 product that you refer to?
Most of their line is just opto isolators, but they do have a line of controller also, but mainly aimed at I/O devices.

I may have mis-understood
The manual "http://www.adept.com/main/KE/DATA/ARCHIVED/SUMMER_03/AdeptMod AdeptMotion User/MMVMEUG.PDF" has a description that refers to digital input/output via Opto-22

Then talks about the Drive Enable signaling under digital inputs as +/-24v
so i did a bit of googling and found opto-22 interfaces on Servo cards seem to be 24v..so i put 2 and 2 together...but i may have got an answer that wasnt 4

It then later talks about Analogue input (Torque Control)...at +/-10v

Hopefully this helps clarrify the situation

cheers
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I have been looking to do the same,( I can get my hands on some industial servo
drives that take a +/- 10v signal ) and have been researching how to convert
a step and direction signal to drive a servo. You might want to look at this
http://www.jrkerr.com/icproducts.html
the pic servo sc chip should do it, with the following circuit added(from the data
sheet for the chip) I think I will give it a try myself.
