Talking Trying to tune servo and wierd stuff is happening???

With Al_the_Man's help I've managed to wire up my SIEMENS servo motor to a RuteX drive (drive pooped so now I've got a CNC TekniX T20 drive), I had the motor moving back and forth, reasonably smooth and then it tripped the drive so I reset it and it didn't matter what setting I used in Mach 3 it just wouldn't move without tripping the drive out.
Because this drive is tuned manually with a screw driver, I wrote a program in Mach3 to go back and forth, I thought I would just tune the drive manually whilst in motion, but everytime I turn the P pot up it trips out the drive (even if I turn it 1 degree) (Both I & D are turned all the way down at this stage).

Can I use different software to move the motor back and forth to tune it, just so I can eleminate Mach 3 settings as my problem?
Also because I had the motor moving (it was moving quite fast actually) does that mean it is definately wired correctly? In other words if the encoder was wired incorrectly e.g A,A/,B,B/,I,I/ Would it still move?
I have checked these wires over and over again, but it all seems o.k.
It seems like it's so close to working...........this machine is a tease!

Well as I mentioned I got the motor running back and forth, my setting in Mach 3 are as follows Steps per = 400, Velocity=750, Accel=1200,Step Pulse=2,Dir Pulse=2.
These settings don't have my motors moving the correct amount, it's just so I could try tuning the drive manually.
It still seems that as soon as I try increasing the P pot it either trips the drive or the motor vibrates, it's just off the lowest setting to get it to move smoothly.
Has anyone tuned servo drives with Mach3?
Could I get a brief description of the order I should do it? e.g motor then software settings.

Buy me a Beer?

Did you try and get any support from CNC Teknix? They may be able to help in trouble shooting the problem, it appears to be a motor/drive issue?
