| Just Connect the armature wires, black and red, the tach can be checked by voltage reading which will reverse polarity when the motor leads are reversed. What are you testing for? The encoder is a bit more involved. Al.

| Check the brushes, remove them and blow the carbon out, or better still remove the rear end plate to expose the commutator and brushes and inspect both. If you run it with auto battery, use ampmeter to check current, should not be very high off load at 12v. Al.
