I have been looking at some AC servo motors that i may use for my router project. My question is really about the drives though, what are they like? Can somebody compare the stepper drive vs the AC servo? and maybe even a basic bare minimum schematic of a servo drive so i know what i am in for? |

| Stepper drive is simple a few fets to switch the coils and a few 74HC chips and your moving. With ac servo you have your hands full, you got the PID loop and tuning of the motors... Read this thread: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14477
