I have a set of SEM MT30F4-25 servos with a peak current of 34amps. I was going to use a dugong servo drive that limits current to 35 amps to the motor. Will this hurt to run this drive? I have been told that the motor will short out if I pull that many amps with it. |

| The motor should not be ran at peak for any continuous length of time, there should be a continuous current or torque rating. Most drive have or should have a current limit that set the max current that can be supplied to the motor. Al.

| al of course is right that peak is for short period ony to not overheat a motor. but it sounds like u are asking a different quesiton: will 35 amps instantaneously hurt ur 34m peak motor.... i believe sem, like most mfgrs, listed peak currents as the max current before the magnets demagnetize. so yes, if you put 35 amps into the 34amp motor you take the chance of demaging it - A TAD. how much? it is failry linear until you fall over the bh curve far so probably 35/34 or 3% at most. but the tolerance on the magnetic field is +/-10-15% so see the none issue here? demag is INSTANTANEOUS and not cumulative; so hit it with 35a for every move and it wont get worse. and i never heard of a drive that didnt have peak curreny limit adjustmentby resistor, pot or variable.
