Need Help!- Can servo motor give continuous rotaion

Dear Members,
I am building a PIston ballast tank. and want to control the movement of the piston with Servo motor. Plz let me know that can I use a BLDC servo motor for continuous in complete circle to control the linear motion of piston with the servo motor.....and Know the position of the piston + move it in forward and reverse direction.
*Can servo motor give continuous rotation?

Basically the answer is yes, do you want just velocity control or both velocity and position?
What type of controller are you using?

If im not miss to your target, you only need to have one controller of velocity controller to got continous rotation , and position sensor to know the piston position
