Retotfit of a Bridgeport with a Hamill NC

I have just bought as Bridgeport fitted with a partially working Hamill controller. I would like to replace the Hamill with a PC running with Mach3 and new drives. I was told the servos are PMI - Kollmorgan U-series ServoDisc U16M4. they are 82.7V, 11a brushed servos. What servo drives would work with this motor? Geko G320X? Rutex 2010? DUGONG DG2S-08020?

    Thanks,
    Jack

yes if all those are dc drives rated 8 or 11 amps continuous and can provide upto around 60 vdc. let me know if u need any more info on those Kollmorgen PMI motors as I have it here since we have sold them for 20+ years. most of those were 8 amp rated so no sure where u got 11+ amps... if marked on ur motor then ok but if not temper that data with fact that most were 8 amp motors continuous.... 60-ish volts too.

ps: I think there is a company called DMM that advertises on this forum that also has dc drives that can probably run these motor.

be very careful tho: most dc drives will damage these motors and/or drive if no external inductor is used in series with the motors; these motors have almost no inductance. tell the drive mfgr when you ask for a quote that ur motor has 50 uh of inductance and ask if they need an external inductor.... (hint: if pwm on their drive is above 20khz then they may not need inductor; if less they should need it )

Thanks, I was told by the guy who sold me the Bridgeport that on one of the 3 Hamill controlled units he owned there was a plate on one motor that specified that it was a U16M4. The Kollmorgan catalog says that it is 82.5V and 11a. I will ask about adding a inductor to limit the instantaneous current. I would be happy to get some more information about these drives. a wiring and application guide would be excellent. I don't want to miss-wire anything.

    Thanks,
    Jack
