I am a newb so please excuse any dumb questions I ask. I have tried to search through the posts before asking these questions. I am going to retrofit a Bridgeport series 2 cnc mill. I wanted to get your opinion on which type servo system to use. I found someone who has alot of brushless dc servos and matching drives for what seems like a good deal. About $200 per axis for servo and matching drive. I am no master at electronics but have a fair electrical background. Would it be work my time to invest the extra effort into doing a brushless setup or go with a brushed dc/ gecko 320 setup. Will a brushless dc driver and the galil pc card work with mach 3 also? I am going to be machining smaller parts and would like to get the most out of speed and accuracy. I see that if I use the brushless setup it would save me buying a 25 amp power supply (300-500 dollar savings). He says the drives priovide all the power. I plan to keep this mill for a long while so I want to get the best for the long haul. I see some posts about the low speed cogging on the brushless servos? Does this make the operation slower? I just want to get the machine done right and not look back 5 years from now and wish I would have done somthing else(that will probaly happen anyway with something I'm sure LOL) Thanks in advance for the help.
