Hi, I am trying to install a ERM280 encoder onto a QAN 200UH motor. After assembling all the wires, I try to run the spindle and get a "8C00 Encoder on speed input S is defective". After adjusting the encoder, I was able to get the spindle to run however it occured again. I was wondering if anyone know what the reason is, and how to set the encoder proper if that is the reason. thanks.

i read that u have some exp on er 280 heidenhain trouble shooting. cud u pass me your contact details .
i have a erm 280 rotary encoder on the B Axis, function is workhead for cylindrical grinding as well as indecing etc.
Some oil was found in the wiring area and the encoder area. We have cleaned both throroughly. however we are not sure if the reader is entirely clean because we did not want to risk alignment by dismantling it.
still the encloder generates following alarms:
1. Pulse Miss (int)
this then leads to a Over Current Alarm (OVC)
this happens when we start the machine and press jog button. note the B axis button has still not been pressed. it tries to move as soon as jog is pressed.
2. If it Jogs for a couple of rotations it then slips rotates very fast momentarily and genarates B Axis excess error.
Any idea what is causing this and remedy.
