    TORQUE

    HELLO FRIENDS,

THIS QUESTION MAY LOOK ABSURD BUT PLEASE HELP.

WE ARE USING A SINGLE PHASE 1HP INDUCTION MOTOR WITH BELT DRIVE FOR SOME POWDERING APPLICATION.

TO INCREASE THE TORQUE SHALL I GO FOR A GEARED MOTOR WITH SAME HP.THE RPM OF THE RUNNING MOTOR IS 1800RPM.SHALL I REDUCE THE RPM THROUGH THE GEARED MOTOR TO INCREASE THE TORQUE.

    THANKS,

    GANESHAN

    SINGLE PHASE 1HP INDUCTION MOTOR

    Dear Mr Ganeshan
You can use a Gear Box to Increase the torque or you can use Reduced Voltage Soft Starters (Reduced Voltage Soft Starters are used to limit the starting current and reducing the Locked Rotor Torque or Starting Torque and are common in applications which is hard to start or must be handled with care - as positive displacement pumps, cranes, elevators and similar.) or The best is you should to use the Single Phase VFD drive Because your application requirement is Accelerating Torque You can calculate Simply Accelerating Torque = Available Motor Torque - Load Torque

    Ganshan,

HP=T*N/5252 where T is torque in #-ft, N is speed in rpm.....

    so T=5252*HP/N

example: so if u gear N down 10:1 then T goes up 10x.

seems u know this already, so what is ur real question?

perhaps one Indian to another, this may make some kind of sense. IF not, please disregard this post as it is complete garbage.
