    Exceeding servo drive power rating

    Hello,

I have a 100W brushless servo drive (technosoft motion controller), and I would like to drive a 200W brushless servo (servodisc). Both the motor and the drive run on 24VDC, but the drive puts out 5A, and I need 10A or more. If I don't need full performance, will just hooking the motor up work without trouble? Or, will the low impedance load burn up my drive? I've also considered an external push-pull emitter follower transistor network on the output of my drive.

    Thanks!

ur scenario will work fine, just limit the motor capability. assuming it is a decently designed drive it should be fine. absolutely NO issue with inductance etc u mention.
