I am currently running a SGDE-02AP driver with an SGML-02AF12C motor (as a pair found on ebay) . This works in position mode, but from what I can determine in the driver manual, there is no way to get the drive to fault if the commanded position gets too far away from the actual position.
So, I'd like to swap to Speed/Torque type drives (and I'm moving to EMC2).
I've read through the forum and it appears that I need to find a driver that can handle the encoder count of 1024p/r incremental for this motor (and matching power and voltage of course).
There are some models, such as the SGDE-02AS and SGDL-02AS, but there are slim pickings on ebay at the moment.
Then there are some other drives, like the SGDA and SGDM, which list a specific motor/encoder combination, but have settings that appear to be able to define encoder settings. For example, in the SGDM manual, there is...
Cn-01 Bit E - Encoder Type Selection
which can be set to
0 - Incremental encoder: 2048 pulses per revolution
1 - Absolute encoder: 1024 pulses per revolution
and
Cn-11 PULSNO Number of Encoder Pulses
which should be set to...
2048 - Incremental encoder: 2048 pulses per revolution
1024 - Absolute encoder: 1024 pulses per revolution |
Are these settings just saying Cn-01 Bit E controls incremental/absolute encoders, and Cn-11 controls the pulses per revolution? Should I be able to set up the driver to 1024p/r to work with my motor?
Has anyone had experience with this?
Long winded as always,
Frank
