Need Help Selecting Servo motors

Hi there,

After 6 successful cnc builds and retrofits, Ive started to get an urge to go beyond the 150 ipm speeds with steppers and am planning to start a new machine with AC servos. The controller will still be Deskcnc.

The help I need here is with which AC servos to go for. Every $200 the brand changes. Options are:

(prices mentioned are for one motor and drive package)

1. DMM servos (400w). All looks good but hey need an additional DC Drive. Will cost me about $500-570 including shipping and import duties to India.

add $100

2. Delta B series (400w). Good package costing me about $675. Only issue is this is their lowest series and I'm not even sure they are good enough for a CNC application. Anyone having experience using these???

add another $200

3. For $890 I can get Sanyo Denki R2AA06040FXH00 + RS1A03AA AC servo motor and drive.

Keeping price low is important, but building the machine well is more important.

Another thing I wanted to learn about is, with steppers I usually accelerate them to about 1000rpm in 0.1 seconds. Ive had no problems so far but does it sound right/wrong/very wrong.

With AC servos can I go to full 3000rpm in the same time or does the acceleration have to be decreased to take 0.25 or 0.3 seconds

All inputs welcome, thanks for reading

No not quite right, The Dmm system package is a Motor, Drive, Power supply Breakout Board Cables, everything to make it run is a round $250 per axes for the (400w),You need some hook up wire 16 gauge only

With there breakout board a drive & motor, you can be running in less than 5 minutes using there set up software, or from Mach3

Thanks for pointing that out Mactec54,

What I meant was DC powersupply not drive.

And Larry, yes that deal sounds amazing, but I use Deskcnc so the breakout board dosent really work for me yet
