For less than that price you could get Fanuc or Gettys DC servo's probabally with encoders off ebay.

anybody think these could be used for servo motors with an encoder of course
Leeson Motor 108052
They are 24 VDC 29 amps and 1800 rpm??

I thought that might be a problem, any other ideals what to use them for? There's 4 brand new ones in the scrap metal bin. I could maybe build another remote control riding mower, I used wheel chair motors before with similar ratings..
Hell, hook up a big propeller on them and generate your own wind power !
hmmmm... windmill SOUNDS good... but a 3/4hp blade would be what... maybe 6' dia..... 6' dia will go maybe 300rpm, 500 before self destruct.... so 300/1800*24v=4vdc output..... wont charge his 12v battery.unless geared up.... I used 2:1 timing belt on my 12' dia windmill and custom wound my servo motor for 400v/krpm!
if you have an electric mower, this is about the right size for the cutter blade; I bought a couple of maybe these same leesons to rebuild the blades on my GE Electrak 36v electric riding mower......
Well i can't stand to see them go to the scrap yard, maybe I'll covert a small ZTR to total electric "in my spare time"...
ha! I have lots of neat stuff I rescued from the scrap yard that I swear I am going to use for a project some day too! We think alike!!
