Any information on the Whale/Dugong drives? I saw a test that was run, comparing different drives on the mach3 forum. The whales were included and looked good. Is there anyone running them on a machine that can comment on them? Thanks, JAckal

Go to the bridgeport section here at the zone (Or search for V2e3), I retrofitted a bridgeport with dugong drives over a year ago. Nothing but praises. |

The motors are only 1000 rpm, something like the keling 1100oz servos are 3000 rpm. At the low 1000 rpm its going to be a issue getting both decent rapid speed and good step resolution. And, total power available, the dugongs will run MUCH higher wattage motors. Shame, I am getting ready to buy a couple for my lathe conversion soon. |

| Sparky_NY The motors will run to the same rpm when the new 100V drive is available, the better part is the encoders at 16384 counts per rev all the 400w to the smallest run high rpm There is also very little to do to get them running, just plug /wire them & you are running
