Identifying these odd brushless servos

I cant seem to find any info on these at all. They have a 20 pin connector which 6 pins go to coils and 5 pins go to hall sensors. I'm trying to id so I can find a compatible driver.

Oh and its my first post, Hello CNCZONE!!

neat Pancake style motors. They are NOT PMI (Kollmorgen), although their size would make them equiv to their U12 size models. Mavilor made wire wound pancake style motors but I never saw inside one of them. From the wire size looks like these would be rated about 8amps continuous.

All that said, you just want compatible drive: Any of the Kollmorgen AC servo drives that accept hall feedback will run it. I.d suggest the CD series as simplest to setup. If you use only the hall feedback, don;t expect to go less than around 300rpm smoothly.... If you also use the encoder that seems to show in one picture you can have normal servo performance.

So they are AC not DC. I took a look for kollmorgen drives on eBay and they look to get very expensive. I'm not very familiar with ac servo systems, so what other equipment would be needed to run these other then the drives? Oh and is there any better place to find surplus drives?

Most motors of this style are designed for running at a constant speed, like a CD/DVD disk motor. They would not work well for start and stop use.

Yes looks like constant speed motors...are those Pacific Bearing linear tables? I have a few... What do you plan on building??

check out a-m-c.com they have small low cost ac drives that accept hall feedback and should run these. Try ebay too for amc drives. BTW, the Mavilor and PMI similar motors are used for quick accel decel needs and generally are used where super smooth velocity is required - without steel laminations there is zero cogging so they run very smoothly so use from 0 to top speed (maybe 2000rpm mechanically from look of the pixs) is good use for them. I think AL_the_man does a lot with amc drives - he might have some surplus ones you might send him a pm.
