Bonmet servo amps

Can anyone help. I have been trying without success to connect up a Bonmet SA3L04C servo drive and motor to run with the smoothstepper but every time the run light on the servo lights up when the24v servo enable circuit is energised the blinking communication led on the smoothstepper goes out and Mach3 immediately hangs. It appears that some kind of signal is being transmitted back from the servo via any of the three com and signal/dir connections to the smoothstepper and causing it to throw a wobbly. I have a mitsubishi amp that also requires a 24v enable signal and that behaves impeccably when wired up in an identical fashion. Anyone got any ideas?.

Hi Aspley, i have had the same issue with the SS board and the bonmet servo drives. it appears that the drives do indeed give out a high amount of EMF. i have 1x SA3L04C and 3x SA3L06C and when i enable them even the radio the other end of the garage starts to crackle badly. it does state in the manual that you need to use line filters on the power supply. i have yet to try this and see if it stops any back feed as this might be whats actually causing this problem. at the moment i am using a C10 BOB and running mach3 at 100khz and usings a 1:2 electrical gearing in the drive. this works better than i tought.. might work for you as a get me by till we find the route of the problem.

i use analog Yaskawa servo(+-10V) ,and YAPSC V10(MAXMOD) for convert step/dir to analog +-10V .
many time i check for run servo motor, but all times i have this problem, i mean :
when i set +24V to S-on pin all thing is freez and hanged program.
you think problem is Line filter ? i dont use yet filter.
in addition ,your mean is RFI filter or another thing?

Thanks for the info. I am awaiting the filters as i write. I have actually been able to get the servos up and running by using a very short USB cable (500mm). The SS behaves itself when connected like this during testing but i'm sure the filters will improve matters even further. I'll keep you posted as testing progresses.

Sure thing, i found them on ebay. TDK 30 amp emc filters. They are used but in good condition and there are more available. Should arrive in the next day or so. I did a bit of research and they should do the job fine.
