Hi all, anyone out there have experience with, or opinions on PMI axa-180-10-20 amps. I am looking at retrofitting a mill with these amps, they are 1980's vintage and I wonder if I should just replace them with new amps (I need the machine to be reliable) any suggestions for a good reliable replacement amp. | If these are DC brushed, look at Advanced Motion Controls. Depends what controller you are going to use. Al.

| obsolete. we dont even have any left and we specialize in keeping the old PMI and Kollmorgen drives in stock here. Can send u manual if you want on them. AMC is prob best choice for low cost replacement. If they work you might just keep using them. They were used on LOW INDUCTANCE motors (pankace style) with <50uH and even AMC needs inductor added in series to run those motors so be careful; most folks even as AMC wont realize this and it can blow up the new amc drive.... |

| I can't be made responsible if damage them following my hints here but.... We clean drive pcb's with plain old 100% alcohol and a scrub brush. sometimes 409 cleaner too but if you leave it damp with water you will likely blow it up when powered up! Alcahol and brush is best bet if you must clean them and then let them dry a long time! be gentle to not break off any parts - u might want to make use of your nice camera and take a few pictures of the pcb BEFORE cleaning so you can compare afterwards if it stops working to see if you broke a part.... Good luck! |

| Also there is items like M.G. Chemicals Cleaner-Degreaser for the very reason, the likes of DigiKey or Newark etc should be able to supply. Al.
