Hello zoners, I've been playing around with steppers for awhile now and just got handed an old Toshiba photocopier which has been broken down into some usefull parts :-) There were 2 Brushless DC Motors with the following specs: Oriental Motor BL302 - 1MQ1 and BL302-1 23Volt both have 11 wires coming out of them, being a newbie to these types of motors I'm at a loss as to why it has 11 wires. The only hint I've been able to get is by looking down wire loom and the motors plug into wires that have colour coded pairs, ie. 2 wires (coloured differently) go to 2 wires (coloured same), this happens for 10 wires of the 11 wires, could this mean that the motors have 5 phases?? (just guessing here) any help would be great, I'd just like to enter the world of servos and I thought if I could build a driver for these it would help reduce my free time even further :-) Cheers Generic |

| The Oriental Motor Catalogue I have show the motors as hooked up to their proprietary drives and indicate that the motors have speed sense feedback as well as voltage control to the windings, so I suspect there is some sort of commutation sensor that is fed back to the drive. Al.

| Thanks AL, I don't suppose that your catalogue has any more detailed information on these motors, or would you know of a way to track some down? Would it be an idea to ask Oriental Motor directly, do they give out specs etc of old products? Cheers Generic |

| You could try Oriental direct, the only information they give is the hooking up the amplifier, the amp to motor is shown as just a special muli-cond plug, no other details. They show performance charts etc. They are FBL & HBL Brushless DC series. Al.
